Make your next parent's night out a Pirate Party! Create the ultimate getaway for the students at your school. (And parents get a night out). Use our Themed Decorations & Accessories to make the party a huge success! Most schools typically charge $20-$30 per person for this type of event. Prior to the event, let the students know that they can wear pirate clothes and bring a pillow/blanket for the movie. The night of the party, give all of your students Pirate hats when they arrive, and have their parents sign them in and leave a cell phone number. Below is a list of games that you can play, but feel free to be creative and come up with your own. If you have some cool pirate games you'd like to see added, please Email Us and let us know. For the gold coins, we suggest that you'll need about 12 or so per student for the party. At the end of the of the party, you can award a prize to the pirate with the most treasure.
Make Your Own Pirate Flag The young pirates get to make their own pirate flag from scratch. Some of the themes that they can put on their flags include the well-known skull and crossbones, two swords crossed, or a cool pirate ship. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for completion of their flag, 1 coin for the flag voted best Approximate Length: 15 minutes Pirate Hook Relay Pirates are divided into 2-4 teams and form a single file line at one end of the floor. The first person in each line starts off with a plastic pirate hook and must run to the other end of the floor, pick up an object out of a bowl with their hook, run back to the next person in line, and pass the hook. The objects they are picking up can range from plastic rings to pretzels. The pirate team that finishes first will win. Several rounds of this can be played. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for each pirate on the winning team Approximate Length: 10 minutes Hidden Treasure Hunt Prior to opening for your pirate event, hide about 3-5 coins per attendee throughout the building. For this treasure hunt, pirates get to keep all of the coins that they find! Gold Coins Awarded: as many as they can find Approximate Length: 10 minutes Pirate Pizza & Sea Water Pirates that exert as much energy as these are surely going to eat a lot. Have tables and chairs already set up, with drinks and cups labeled with their names. Figure about 1 pizza will feed 4-5 kids. For drinks, you can make "sea water" by adding blue food coloring to any lighter colored drink like apple juice, sprite, water, or just use blue koolaid. Keep the drinks in a treasure chest filled with ice to make it even more exciting. Every pirate gets a gold coin after they are finished, have cleaned up their area, and throw their trash away. Be sure to keep their cups with their names on them for movie later on. Also remember that you'll need an extra hand to go pick up the pizzas if they dont deliver. Order pizzas over an hour in advance if possible, and just let them know when you'd like them delivered or to be picked up. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for cleaning up Approximate Length: 15 minutes Find The Crocodile Prior to opening for our pirate event, you will need to hide or disguise crocodile shapes or objects throughout your school. They can be in the form of a drawing on a piece of paper, dry erase board, or small toys placed throughout the school. Set a timer of a given amount of time for them to find a crocodile. If a team finds one of them, they win that round. Once a crocodile has been found, it cannot be used in the next round of course. So to make this game take longer, be tricky in placing and hiding your crocodiles. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for each pirate on the winning team Approximate Length: 10 minutes Walk The Plank Use any sort of object that resembles a long plank of wood for this one. An actual board laid on the floor will work, just be sure to sand all edges. Pirates should be seperated into 2 teams, with one team on each end of the plank. They can be given a fun noodle (sword) and shield (padded bag). Pirates step up onto the plank, across from another pirate on the opposite team. You will go however many matches until everyone has went once. Keep track of which team wins each round, because the team with the most wins gets 1 gold coin for each member of their team. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for each pirate on the winning team Approximate Length: 10 minutes Pirate Card Game Any sort of card game will work for this one. Remember to keep in mind the age group you are working with, so something with lots of counting may be difficult. Play simple games like "Go Fish". Every time they win, they can get a gold coin. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin per card game won Approximate Length: 15 minutes Find Mysterious Object With The Compass Prior to the opening of your pirate party, take a number of magnets and hide them inside of objects at your school. Divide the pirates into teams and give each team a small compass. Give them small clues as to what the mysterious object is and they must use the compass to find the mysterious object. Basically what happens is that their compass needle will point towards the mysterious object when they hold it near it. Several rounds of this can be played if you've hidden different magnets. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin per pirate on the winning team Approximate Length: 10 minutes Pirate Coloring Contest Draw your own or find a coloring book at stores and have the pirates color a picture. They will get a gold coin for completing it, and the one who does best will get another coin. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for completion, 1 coin for the coloring voted best Approximate Length: 10 minutes Pirate Movie Two great movies to show are "Hook" or "Pirates of the Carriban". Both are about 2 hours long and are pirate themed of course. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for each pirate that shows good behavior during the movie Approximate Length: 2 hours X Marks The Spot This game is similar to a pin the tail on the donkey game. But with this one, you'll put a big treasure map on the wall with an "X" on it somewhere. Have little pirate figures made up with the students names on them that they have to stick on the wall, while wearing a blindfold. The pirate that is closest to the "X" wins. Several rounds of this can be played. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for the winning pirate Approximate Length: 10 minutes Ships & Pirates Take all of your kicking bags, large and small, and scatter them on the workout floor. The pirates must now "swim" around on the floor until you yell a command. "Caption on deck" means they must immediately stop where they are, stand at attention with a salute. "Man the guns" means they must stop, get in a middle stance, and do 3 punches. "Kraken" means that the sea monster is coming and they must return back to the boats (bags). Any pirates left swimming in the water have been eaten and are eliminated from the game. As time goes on, keep removing boats (bags) from the water so that fewer and fewer pirates can be saved from the Kraken. Gold Coins Awarded: 1 coin for the winning pirate Approximate Length: 15 minutes |
